Shopping here, and renting a shelf
Liberty Emporium NC · Liberty, NC · last updated 19 October 2026
Who we are
Liberty Emporium NC is a physical shop in Liberty, NC (Randolph County) that rents shelf and booth space to local sellers. This website is the shop's own shelf directory and catalogue: it is how a shopper sees what is on a shelf before walking in, and how a renter keeps track of the space they hold.
Everything is paid for at the counter
No payment is taken on this site. We do not ask for a card number, and nothing is charged through these pages. Every sale is completed in person at the counter, and the counter's receipt is the record of it. The shop retains 10% of what a renter sells — that percentage applies to every sale, for as long as the renter rents here, and the renter keeps the rest.
Prices and tax
- Prices are in US dollars. The price shown on your phone should match the tag on the shelf.
- Where the shelf's renter has put a discount on an item, the discounted price is what you pay and it is shown as the headline with the original struck through.
- North Carolina sales tax is added at the counter at the rate in force for this location (currently 7% — state 4.75% plus local 2.25%).
Your account
A seller renting space registers an account, and staff have accounts of their own. Keep your password to yourself — anybody who has it can act as you. One account per person, and the details you give us must be yours. We may suspend or close an account that is used to mislead people, to list goods the shop cannot sell, or to avoid paying rent. You can ask us to close your account at any time (see privacy for what happens to the information in it).
Renting a shelf
- When you take a unit you choose the day your rental starts. Rent is billed monthly from that date, and your unit stops being offered to anyone else the moment it is yours.
- The amount of the rent, the day it falls due, what happens if it is late, and the procedure if goods have to be boxed up are all set out in the shelf rental agreement you sign. If anything on this page differs from that agreement, the signed agreement is what applies.
- Your goods remain yours. You set your own prices.
- We may decline or remove anything that is unlawful, unsafe, recalled, counterfeit, alive, or against the shop's posted rules. If we remove something, we will tell you why and keep it for you to collect.
- Free tax preparation for your CPA. Every sale you make on your shelf is written down with its tax, and your account can print or save that as a tidy pack to hand straight to your CPA at year end.
Sending us a list of goods
A shelf page lets anybody offer goods for a shelf that is free. Sending a list is an application, not an agreement: the shop's owner reads it and replies by email, and nothing is listed until they approve it. If your list is approved, the items you described go onto that shelf with the photographs you sent, and shoppers can see them. If it is not approved, nothing is owed either way. Please only send goods you own, with photographs you have the right to use.
What you send us, and what we show
You keep the rights to your photographs and your goods; by sending them you allow us to show them — the item, its price, its photograph and the label on the shelf — on this website and on the shelf's public page. Ask us and we will take a photograph or a listing down. Photographs we remove are archived rather than destroyed, because that has always been the shop's promise to sellers (see privacy).
What we are responsible for
We run this site carefully, but we cannot promise it will never be wrong or unavailable — a shop like this is online only as a courtesy. To the extent North Carolina law allows, the shop's responsibility for anything arising out of this website is limited to the amount you paid the shop for the goods or the rent in question. Nothing in these terms takes away a right that North Carolina law gives you, and the shop is not responsible for goods sold by a renter, which are theirs and not ours.
Changes, and which law applies
We may update these terms; the version on this page is the current one, and using the site or renting a shelf after a change means you accept it. These terms are governed by the law of North Carolina.
